(5322) Ghaffari Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 26 August 1986 by H. Debehogne at La Silla.

Abolghassem Ghaffari (1907–2013) was a Persian-American mathematician and physicist. Ghaffari created optimization techniques for Earth-Moon trajectory problems, novel analytical techniques for change maneuvers in interplanetary trajectories, and studied the effects of solar radiation pressure and general relativity on Earth-orbiting satellites.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 2, #7, 6), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
