Discovered on 10 July 2002 by CINEOS at Campo Imperatore.

Chiara Feruglio (b. 1978) obtained her degree in astronomy at the University of Padua in 2003, with a thesis on spectroscopy of Seyfert galaxies. Currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, she is studying the properties of accretion onto super massive black holes.Naming citation (20050919/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
