(17249) Eliotyoung Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 2 April 2000 by LONEOS at Anderson Mesa.

Eliot F. Young (b. 1962), of the Southwest Research Institute, Boulder, Colorado, studies volatile transport on outer-solar-system bodies. He has used the mutual events between Pluto and Pluto I (Charon) to determine their radii and to derive albedo and color maps of Pluto.Naming citation (20050721/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
