(5339) Desmars Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 4 February 1992 by Hioki, T., Hayakawa, S. at Okutama.
Josselin Desmars (b. 1980) is a French astronomer at the Observatoire de Paris-IMCCE who predicts occultation by small solar-system bodies. He has led or participated in occultation campaigns to derive Pluto's atmospheric activity, to refine the size and position of Apophis, and to detect the rings of Chariklo.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 2, #11, 7), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
Where Desmars is today
Seen from above the solar system on 2026-10-14: Desmars is 3.09 au from the Sun and 4.09 au from Earth. Computed from JPL's orbital elements.
