(8070) DeMeo Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 2 March 1981 by S. J. Bus at Siding Spring.
Named in honor of Francesca E. DeMeo (b. 1984), a postdoctoral researcher at MIT who completed her 2010 Ph.D. thesis at the Paris Observatory. An expert in spectral studies of small bodies, she extended to near-infrared wavelengths a taxonomic classification system for minor planets.Naming citation (20120506/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
