(8282) Delp Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 10 September 1991 by F. Borngen at Tautenburg.

Named in memory of the German theologian Alfred Delp (1907-1945). Beginning in 1942, he was a member of the illegal “Kreisauer Kreis”, a group of political conservatives who worked to eliminate the Nazi regime. With this group, Delp collaborated on a first draft of a Christian social order for his country. Following the 1944 attempt on the fascist leader's life, he was condemned to death and executed in February 1945.Naming citation (19980808/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
