(19917) Dazaifu Outer Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 12 March 1977 by Kosai, H., Hurukawa, K. at Kiso.

In the second half of the 7th century, the Dazaifu government office was in charge of the Kyushu area and the two islands of Iki and Tsushima, and it was a base of defense and diplomatic relations at that time. The corner stones of the remains of the capital towers 'tofuro' remain in Dazaifu city.Naming citation (MPC batch dated 2018-09-25), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
