(9614) Cuvier Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 27 January 1993 by E. W. Elst at Caussols.

Georges Baron Cuvier (1769-1832) was a French zoologist who established the sciences of comparative anatomy and paleontology. Although denying evolution, he was particularly successful in reconstructing complete skeletons of unknown quadrupeds, giving evidence that whole species of animals had become extinct.Naming citation (20030106/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
