(614690) Conversimarcello Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 4 December 2021 by M. Micheli L. Conversi at Calar Alto-Schmidt.

Marcello Conversi (1917–1988) was an Italian professor of particle physics, member of CERN and the Accademia dei Lincei. He is best known for the Conversi, Pancini and Piccioni cosmic ray experiment (1942–1946) which demonstrated that the mesotron, nowadays known as the muon, was not the particle predicted by Yukawa to be the mediator of the strong force.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 3, #14, 11), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
