Discovered on 19 December 2008 by Q.-z. Ye X. Y. Hsiao at Lulin.
Shu Chien (b. 1931) was one of the founders of the field of cellular and molecular bioengineering in the early 1980s. In the 1990s, he established the foundation for mechanobiology, which provides the basis for understanding blood flow in diseases like atherosclerosis. He received the U.S. Medal of Science in 2010.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 1, #8, 8), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
