(17076) Betti Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 18 April 1999 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.

Enrico Betti (1823-1892) taught at the University of Pisa and published on various topics in algebra and analysis. His research on the analysis situs (topology) of hyperspaces led to the definition of the “Betti numbers”, which characterize the connectivity of a manifold.Naming citation (20010109/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
