Discovered on 16 March 2002 by Cernis, K., Zdanavicius, J. at Moletai.

Algimantas Ažusienis (b. 1930), a teacher for 50 years at the Vilnius Pedagogical University, has investigated the variable stars and the photometric systems. With V. Straižys he improved the determination of the response curves and parameters of the UBV system.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 6, #7, 5), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
