(10385) Amaterasu Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 15 October 1996 by Shimizu, Y., Urata, T. at Nachi-Katsuura.
Amaterasu-oomikami, the mythical Japanese goddess of the sun, was born from the left eye of the god Izanaki and ruled the world of the heaven Takamagahara. To protest the misconduct of her younger brother, the god Susanoo, she hid in the cave called Ama-no-iwayado, and the world fell into complete darkness.Naming citation (20000320/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
